The Hypocritical Role of the NCAA

As quoted from the NCAA web site:
“Core Purpose
“Our purpose is to govern competition in a fair, safe, equitable and sportsmanlike manner, and to integrate intercollegiate athletics into higher education so that the educational experience of the student-athlete is paramount.”

Core Values
The Association - through its member institutions, conferences and national office staff - shares a belief in and commitment to:
• The collegiate model of athletics in which students participate as an avocation, balancing their academic, social and athletics experiences.
The highest levels of integrity and sportsmanship.
• The pursuit of excellence in both academics and athletics.
• The supporting role that intercollegiate athletics plays in the higher education mission and in enhancing the sense of community and strengthening the identity of member institutions.
• An inclusive culture that fosters equitable participation for student-athletes and career opportunities for coaches and administrators from diverse backgrounds.
• Respect for institutional autonomy and philosophical differences.
• Presidential leadership of intercollegiate athletics at the campus, conference and national levels.

We at TrueNationalChampion.com would like to ask Mr. Miles Brand, the President of the NCAA and all others working at the NCAA the following question:
Do you really believe that the current BCS system you have in College Football is fair, safe, equitable and sportsmanlike and promotes the highest levels of integrity and sportsmanship for ALL Division 1 Student Athletes, Coaches, Administrators, Alumni and Fans?

If you really do think what you have is fair for all Division 1(Bowl Subdivision) Athletes, Coaches and everyone else that follows College Football, think again. THE BCS IS NOT THE BEST SYSTEM AVAILABLE FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL! If a Division 1AA team can beat the #5 Team in the Country as it has happened in 2007, all conference champions from Division 1(Bowl Subdivision) should be allowed to compete in a playoff for a National Championship. All other student athletes have the opportunity to do that, except Division 1 (Bowl Subdivision) College Football! You have even DENIED 3 Schools from non BCS conferences that went the entire season undefeated (Hawaii, Boise State and the University of Utah) in the last 4 years the opportunity to even play for a National Championship. What more can they do? Many of the BCS schools won’t play these schools during the regular season. People often argue that the SEC is the most competitive and strongest conference, yet an undefeated team from the Southeastern Conference - Auburn, also did not have the opportunity to even play for a National Championship (2004 season). It is evident to us that the system needs to change to give every team in all Division 1(Bowl Subdivision) Conferences the same opportunity each year.
